Seven disciplines. Neuropsychology, clinical psychology, child psychology, psychopharmacology, psychotherapies, hypnotherapy and counselling. Taught in order, by people who practise them.
A psychology degree in India is mostly an examination in description. You finish able to name a disorder, cite a theorist and reproduce a definition, with almost no hours spent thinking in front of a real person.
That is not a failure of students. It is a failure of method. So this programme runs the other way round: seven disciplines, each taught by someone who works in it, each ending in something you have to produce and defend rather than recall.
How the brain produces attention, memory, language and behaviour, and what changes in a person when one of those stops working properly.
The main body of the course. Disorders and how they actually present, the interview, the mental status examination, formulation, and choosing what to do about it.
Development as the baseline you measure a child against. How difficulties look at different ages, and how to work with the parents who bring the child in.
Enough pharmacology to be useful in a room you share with a psychiatrist. What the common drugs do, what they cost the person taking them, and when a case is not yours to hold.
The major approaches set side by side. What each one believes change is, what it asks of the client, and how you choose between them for a real person.
Induction, trance states and suggestibility. Where hypnotic suggestion belongs in clinical work, and where it does not.
The skills a session actually runs on. Listening that goes somewhere, silence you can hold, boundaries, risk, and ending an hour without leaving someone open.
Each discipline is delivered as a sequence, not a set of standalone talks. One week builds the vocabulary the next one spends. Sessions run live, so a question gets answered in the session that raised it.
Teaching runs on real case material, not vignettes written to fit the answer. You get what a clinician gets. A history, an observation, a contradiction. Then you are asked what you would do next, before you are told.
You write the formulation and commit to a position. It comes back marked, with the reasoning laid next to yours, which is the only way to find out where your attention goes quiet.
VIBHA School of Psychology is led by Dr. Sarthak Dave and built by a multidisciplinary leadership and faculty team bringing together clinical psychiatry, psychology, child psychiatry, hypnotherapy, mindfulness and other specialised areas of mental health.
Core leadership
The gap is not knowledge. It is the hour between knowing the theory and sitting with the person in front of you.
MBBS, MD (Psychiatry). VIBHA School of Psychology & VIBHA Healing Centre. The primary academic and clinical face of the school: he takes the clinical teaching, brings the case material out of his own practice, and decides what gets taught as practice rather than as theory.
VIBHA School of Psychology & VIBHA Healing Centre.
VIBHA School of Psychology. Builds and runs the programme: curriculum, cohort, schedule, faculty and everything that has to happen before a session can happen.
Esteemed faculty
One cohort at a time. Small enough that written work comes back with your name on it and a reply underneath.
A small cohort, seven disciplines, and work that comes back marked. Tell us who you are and what you have done so far. .
